About the Authors

John Alden Knight

Considered by many to be the dean of modern sportsmen, John Alden Knight was a pioneering author, Columbia University lecturer, and creator of the first nationally syndicated newspaper column on hunting and fishing. Beyond originating the barometric theory of fishing and introducing nymph flies to the U.S., he was the first writer awarded the Gold Plaque of the Hunting and Fishing Hall of Fame and received the Dolphin Award.

Richard Alden Knight

Growing up in the field alongside his father, Richard worked closely to perfect the SOLUNAR TABLES® to their high degree of accuracy. A fly-casting champion and holder of 19 national and international shooting awards, he joined his father as the first father-and-son duo inducted into The Fly Fishing Hall of Fame.
